The Queen (Original Poem)

December 15, 2009 - Leave a Response

She was a wise lady.
One with words of nature -
so powerful on their own
without aid of man.

They ran smoothly from her lips
like sand in an hour glass,
so gentle and wise -
yet ever so apprehensive.

She believed with passion
and was altogether devoted
to her one and only love:
England.

This woman was
Queen Elizabeth I.

A Man Must Travel (Original Poem)

December 15, 2009 - Leave a Response

Turn your back on the land
and face the sea.
For our sake you must leave
and be set free.
Board your ship
and steer it too.
Sail into
the deep, dark blue.
Don’t look back
when you reach new shore,
and don’t forget what
you’ve traveled there for.

Slow Down (Original Song)

November 17, 2009 - Leave a Response

You see, I’ve got a story
that this world wants to hear,
and I’ll tell it to you
just lend me your ear.

I walked in circles
year after year,
until one day I tried to speak
only out came a tear.

Slow down,
slow down.
Start moving your feet
and stop asking how.
Slow down,
slow down.
Hang onto your faith
and find your purpose right now.

Some mixed emotions were
tumbling in the wind.
They carried me away
to a crossed-off dead end.

Sounds were blaring so loud
in the background, all around -
There was a woman who was lost,
who just wanted to be found.

Slow down,
slow down.
Start moving your feet
and stop asking how.
Slow down,
slow down.
Hang onto your faith
and find your purpose right now.

Those friends of mine,
yea they said that they cared,
but when I needed them most
they ran away, so scared.

The very next day
I showed up all alone.
No one could see I was standing
on my rock, my stone.

Slow down,
slow down.
Start moving your feet
and stop asking how.
Slow down,
slow down.
Hang onto your faith
and find your purpose right now.

I want to find my place
in this world set on fire -
but, it keeps telling me
You’ll never reach any higher.

I’ve got news for this world
of temporariness,
I’ve got something much better,
so much better than this.

Slow down,
slow down.
Start moving your feet
and stop asking how.
Slow down,
slow down.
Hang onto your faith
and find your purpose right now.

Slow down…

Childhood (Original Poem)

November 12, 2009 - Leave a Response

I took a walk through the lush, green grass in the backyard
when I thought I couldn’t go on with you near to me.
It calmed me when I couldn’t think straight
and it comforted me to pick the bark off the old oak tree.

The lines in that ancient oak made shapes
that seemed so clear at the time,
but they’ve faded away
the same as the thoughts in my mind.

I cried until my eyes burned,
and eventually got lost in the pain.
Thoughts ran through my head
until I couldn’t think of anything.

My love for you is the only thing
that could conquer my anger.
I told myself I couldn’t live the rest of my life
knowing you only as a stranger.

Today I’m looking back on my childhood
and wondering how this miracle has occurred.
Now I know, it was when you reached out to me
and it was only your voice that I heard
when you said, “I love you”.

A Life Aloof (Original Poem)

November 10, 2009 - Leave a Response

Over vast, empty space,
through distance and time,
I pause in place
as the clock tower rings achime.

Here it is viewed
from a few steps away
managing to seclude
itself from the crowd today.

I am like the sun,
the moon, and the stars -
Like the clock towers, each and every one.
I am to be acknowledged from afar.

A Lover’s Wonder (Original Poem)

November 9, 2009 - Leave a Response

Everything is all around.
Beats to the heart
are never bound
to tear apart.
They are glue
between the few
who understand its clue
that alludes to
the wonders of the world.
Those few search
for mysteries in a whirl -
then they spring out and lurch.
Exploring up high in the blue
and out wide in the new
unknown lands of a different hue
that encompass you.
My journey is coming to an end.
I can’t go on.
I’ve tried again and again,
but the clock still rings at dawn.
The darkness covers the blue,
allowing my hope to fade away too.
Silence appears where the wind once blew,
and clouds where the Cardinals once flew.
My breath becomes the only music I hear
while my bench sustains my weary body.
My eye catches a glimpse of a ghostly shadow – I fear.
But, it is nothing more than an angel you embody.
My search is through
for I’ve found you.
Or perhaps it is you who
found me to accrue.

Bright Is Night, With Stars and Our Moon (Original Poem)

November 9, 2009 - Leave a Response

When Summer turns to Fall,

Up rises the coldest of them all,

After dust forms on the lips of Spring,

With the gentle waking by the rain you bring.

After some time passes by,

The sun itself is oblivious to the colors in the sky.

And steps of soft and caressing green,

The beauty I see, I’ve awakened within a dream.

Love personified into a man,

My steps are now doubled and formed in sand.

He doth robs me of my soul and heart,

I know deep down we should never part.

Carried away by the waves on the shore,

My love is locked forever more.

In a cottage past the shapely dune,

Bright is night, with stars and our moon.

Flying with Mended Wings (Original Poem)

November 9, 2009 - Leave a Response

We’re tossing sparkling stars
into the midnight sky
standing beneath the glowing moon
as the world becomes as black as night.

Fireflies dancing above the fields,
as we’re gazing at the delicacy of swaying greens,
It’s just you and me-
flying with mended wings.

We’ve found a magical view of rushing waters,
and though it’s distance is not near,
the crisp sound of the crashing waves
now, more than ever, we clearly hear.

We’re drifting over white shades
rolling by like softened crests.
We’re all alone with our sky
while the people down below rest.

As we glide past valleys
and snow covered mountain tops,
we sink down through the air
to wonder over the new day’s first dewdrop.

Brandeis Blue and Forest Green (Original Poem)

November 9, 2009 - Leave a Response

Lush green grass
and fields of wild brandeis blue.
Soft breeze blowing
making the land daintily sway.
Old rotting fence
simulating a barrier,
but has not proven itself
to be in decades.
Cross over delicately
into the careening land,
floating swiftly through
the forest green meadow.

The Enchantment of Solitude (Original Poem)

November 9, 2009 - Leave a Response

The enchantment of solitude
is the glittering moon through its phases
and the first leaf fallen in the high country
to imply that the seasons have altered
once again.
